By That Window – Poem

It was by that window

where dreams came true,

where life was fought

and life was lost.

The cherry wood sill,

stained with blood and paint

worn by warm hands, pens,

and carved by relentless tears.

Becoming a 2016 Heartist on WeHeartIt

Over the past couple of months since I’ve been awarded my badge of honor on weheartit, a social network for sharing inspiring, funny, and uplifting quotes and photos.  Since I announced I was honored as a 2016 heartist on Twitter and Instagram,  I’ve had a couple of curious people message me, wondering how I became a heartist.

It was never my intention to become a heartist on weheartit, in fact I only had my account for about six months when I was informed that I given the badge of a heartist.

Writing Update – What Happened? Life.

This has been posted on my website, writing blog and tumblr.

A lot has been going on for me lately; personally, academically, online and mentally.

Those of you who know me from Wattpad know that I posted a new short story collection on Wattpad, then took it down two days later. You may have also noticed that I also took down almost the rest of my stories leaving two still posted. You also realize that on March 1rst I was supposed to reveal the chapter of my NaNoWriMo novel: We Fall Down, it didn’t happened.

What happened?

Life.

Self Love – It’s Not Always Pretty or Neat

Disclaimer: Some parts of this post are cross posted both here, on my writing blog, and on my tumblr.  Self love is different for every person, just as it will be for each of your characters. This is a brief post, as such I am brief in my descriptions and reasoning. I may expand at a later point. There are also two kind-of-almost swear words in here, so…

I often see self love romanticized and of all the things writers tend to romanticize, this one upsets me the most because it can make people who struggle with self love feel worse. It’s damaging and harmful to your audience, in this case I recommend you do valiant research if you don’t struggle with or understand self love.

Chit Chat: Writing & Editing Update

It’s been a little while since I’ve chatted with y’all on this blog and I decided it’s time to take a quick moment to update y’all on my current work in progress and just life in general.

I’m sure the are a whole slew of other things that I’ve done this past month, but I’m just writing down the most important of them on the subject of writing.

Chit Chat – 2016: The Highlights

2016.
An incredible year.
For some of us 2016 was amazing; for others it was terrible and stressful; and for some it was: ‘meh.’
I meant to start this scribble a long while ago and post it on New Year’s Eve but I didn’t feel like the timing was right; now, I think it is. We’ve opened up a new book, full of crisp white pages ready to be filled at out leisure.
Let’s make the most of these pages.

Homesick

You guys were due this scribble a long time ago and I have plenty of excuses as to why it is only just now happening: I’m lazy, I’m lazy, I’m obsessed with weheartit and I’m lazy. Don’t think I mentioned it yet, but I’m a bit lazy.
I’m going to be honest with you though, the only reason why I finally decided to post this (It’s been sitting on my phone for a good month and a half now.) is because I started reading a book (God’s Will, God’s Best by Josh McDowell and Kevin Johnson) for Bible class and it inspired me to finally finish this post. If it weren’t for that book y’all would’ve been waiting a long, long while. Thank the book I finally started reading.
(Everything in italics is what I wrote on the plane write back from Texas this summer.)
