I’ve got a new story in the works, up on Wattpad and on Tumblr called To Be A Hero.
I was challenged by a friend and fellow writeblr (@gingerly-writing) – a writer on tumblr to write a superhero story, something completely out of my comfort zone. I’ve only kind of started stepping into the whole superhero thing in general a couple months ago with No Capes on Wattpad and the release of Dr. Strange (My all time favorite male actor: Benedict Cumberbatch. Whoop!).
So, after about a week and a half (maybe even more) of hem-hawing I wrote the first chapter of a superhero story.
Warning this work is unedited.
It wasn’t the belly flop or exasperated cry that followed it that alerted me that something was wrong, although in hind’s sight according to Jeremiah I should’ve know that meant something was wrong.
Based on a prompt set by @dialogue-prompts on tumblr:
“I know you’re not, you don’t have to-”
“I’m fine! Ok!? Can you just leave it please!?”
warning: this is work unedited.
Earth wasn’t anything like she expected. It was small, crowded, and so, so dirty. Trying to fit 7 billion people into an area smaller than her father’s kingdom, ridiculous. She exchanged a disgusted glance with her boyfriend, Adonis, as another one of the horrendously slow four wheeled vehicle humans were so proud of passed by them, spraying them with toxic levels of heavens-knows-what.
“I told you this was a bad idea, Adonis.”
A short story based on an angst prompt list by @writers-among-stars on tumblr :
1. “Please, just let me help you.”
2. “I don’t need you. I don’t need any of you!”
3. “I had to do it. Before I destroyed something else.”
9. “Stay with me okay? Stay awake!”
10. “Please- don’t leave me.”
13. “Everyone forgets about me. I’m used to it.”
I’ve read a lot of books the past year and a fair share of them were on Wattpad. These are the Wattpad books that made my 2016. They made me laugh, think, cry and scream in frustration. I read some of them over and over again, and they all hold special places in my heart.
I started this list back in the beginning of December and it took me a little while but I narrowed the books, in my library and archive, down to my top ten Wattpad books of 2016. I didn’t realize how difficult it would be.
